| Warp Graphics + DC Comics = New-Old + New-New publications! |
| The 25th anniversary of ElfQuest's first apperance in print, was published on the 28th of February, 2003. It was then Warp Graphics, Wendy and Richard Pinis own publishing company signed a licensing agreement with DC Comics, that is one of the bigger comic publishers today with many popular mainstream titles in print. |
|
The
Anniversary issue was published just
after that the Pinis had announced that they were entering a partnership
with DC Comics, and that they were going to reprint material and publish
new stories. The 25th Anniversary Special is a reprint of the very
first issue of Elfquest, but coloured in Photoshop, a kind of preview for
what the fans could expect from the Elfquest Archives. After the
story, there's an interview by Mike McAvennie, called "Elfquest Revisited",
with Wendy and Richard. This comic was published in 2003, the first Elfquest material ever published by DC Comics. |
| And so, together with DC Comics, 3 new ElfQuest publication projects have been started: |
| ¤ ElfQuest Mangas = recaptures the old more material in a more chronological order, in manga format. |
| ¤ ElfQuest Archive Series = new version of the old Graphic Novels in deluxe format. |
| ¤ New ElfQuest Tales = the new-new material! |
| The Grand Quest vs The Archives? |
| The Grand Quest is also part of the Manga series started by Elfquest: Wolfrider, vol. 1 and 2. The Grand Quest is basically the Manga version of The Archives. So the storyline content in itself for them both is pretty much the same. But there are some important differences.. |
| Shara's Guide to All ElfQuest Publications was updated 2005-10-08 with more detailed info on what single issues are included in most of the new DC Comics publications. Below is some very useful info about what exactly is the difference between these new DC Comics publications that Livie The Lurker so kindly provided me with :) |

| The mangas cost about $10.00, so they are very affordable. Also, a new Manga is published every other month, so they are a very handy way of catching up with the story quickly. | The Archives cost around $50.00 The Archives are published once a year. |

& Changes |

| The small format means that
the pages contain fewer panels than the originals did. Also, the panels
have been reworked in Photoshop to fit the new format, the speech bubbles
have been refined and sometimes new art has been included, either to accomodate
those refinements, or to "bridge" between panels. |
Between each chapter the original cover and backcover art is reprinted. The art made for the Marvel reprints is also included in the story. At the back of the book is the Marvel art not integrated into the story, and the covers of the Marvel reprints. These are in black & white. The covers for Titan or Father Tree Press compilation "Fire and Flight" is reprinted. Oddly, the comment beneath the picture says: "Cover of the first color compilation." There is, however, no image of the Donning/Starblaze cover, which was the first compilation... Also, the cover of the Reader's Collection "Fire and Flight" is reprinted, with the comment: "Cover of the first black and white compilation." | |

| Each manga (excepting The Grand Quest vol. 6), contains 4 and a half issues, leaving a cliffhanger at the end of each book. For example, The Grand Quest, vol. 1 ends with the Wolfriders chasing the stampeding zwoots, not with Pike drunk under a dreamberry bush, or Rayek riding into the desert. | Besides an abundance of old & original covers for the stories they contain, The Archives have forewords. They also have an afterword by Wendy and Richard Pini, as well as biographies. | |
